Accessibility Statement
Mermaid is meant to be usable by people with disabilities. Accessibility matters most in the account, purchase, crew invitation, safety briefing, notification and support workflows, and visual maps or camera views are never the only way to obtain material information.
1. Commitment
Krone Consulting s.r.o. is committed to making the mermaid.navy website, the Mermaid iOS and Android apps, the Crew web app and Mermaid Base accessible in accordance with the European Accessibility Act as implemented by Slovak Act No. 351/2022 Coll. and other applicable requirements. Our technical target is WCAG 2.2 Level AA and the applicable clauses of EN 301 549, including accessible authentication, documents, support and purchase functions.
2. Scope
This Statement covers the public and legal pages of mermaid.navy; account creation, sign-in and privacy controls; subscription, cancellation and withdrawal functions; the Crew web app invitation and charter workflows; the iOS and Android skipper apps; Mermaid Base; safety briefings, the cash kitty, inspections, incidents, the logbook and support; PDFs and statements produced by Mermaid; and important notifications and error messages. The app stores, payment interfaces, map and weather data and external sites have their own accessibility statements; Krone remains responsible for choosing and integrating third parties as the law requires.
3. Measures
Our accessibility programme includes accessibility requirements in design and development acceptance criteria; semantic headings, landmarks, labels and reading order; keyboard and switch access for web and Crew web app functions; screen-reader testing on current iOS, Android and desktop combinations; sufficient contrast, visible focus and status indicators that do not rely on colour alone; scalable text and reflow without loss of function; alternatives to gestures, drag, map-only and camera-only interactions; text alternatives for instructional media; clear errors, status messages and accessible authentication; accessible consent, subscription, cancellation and withdrawal flows; accessible PDFs or an equivalent HTML version; testing with users with disabilities; and an issue register with an owner, priority and remediation date for every known barrier.
4. Safety-related accessibility
A safety warning is never conveyed only by colour, map animation, vibration or sound. Where technically feasible Mermaid combines visible text and an icon, a screen-reader announcement, sound and vibration selected by the user, a clear severity and required action, and a persistent history that can be reviewed. Accessibility does not turn Mermaid into a certified distress or primary navigation system; a user must keep independent, accessible safety arrangements appropriate to the vessel and their disability.
5. Maps, charts, weather and camera views
Interactive geospatial and camera content presents inherent challenges. Mermaid provides accessible alternatives that convey the material purpose: a textual route and waypoint list; coordinates, distance, time and warning summaries; a structured list of nearby anchorages and marinas; textual weather values with source age and coverage status; a two-dimensional inspection checklist where the camera guide is not supported or accessible; and controls operable without a precision gesture. The alternative need not reproduce every visual detail, but it lets the user obtain the material information and complete the transaction where the law requires it.
6. Known limitations
Canvas-based demonstrations on this website (the forecast, route, seabed and anchor-watch animations) are illustrations; their content is described in the surrounding text. Real-time chart rendering in the apps is delivered through the alternatives in section 5. We list open barriers and their remediation dates in our issue register and publish material changes here.
7. Feedback and assistance
Tell us if you encounter a barrier or need information in another accessible format: info@mermaid.navy, subject "Accessibility", or by post to Krone Consulting s.r.o., Mlynské Nivy 5, 821 09 Bratislava, Slovakia. Identify the page or feature, the device, the assistive technology and your preferred format; do not include unnecessary health information. We acknowledge accessibility feedback within 5 business days and give a substantive answer or a remediation plan within 15 business days. These are service targets, not a limit on your statutory rights.
8. Enforcement
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Slovak Trade Inspection (Slovenská obchodná inšpekcia, Bajkalská 21/A, 827 99 Bratislava 27, soi.sk), the market-surveillance authority for the accessibility of services under Act No. 351/2022 Coll., or the competent authority in your own EU country, and you may use the consumer complaint and court routes listed in the Legal Notice and Imprint. You may contact an authority without first contacting Krone.
